Liturgy is described as the summit toward which all activity of the Church is directed and the source from which we derive our faithfulness as Disciples of Christ. St. Elizabeth parishioners are invited to participate in our Sacred Liturgy as facilitators and ministers.

Liturgy Team

Members of this team oversee the liturgical aspects of the community by planning special masses, making sure that proper liturgy is being practiced, and promoting better liturgical education among the church community. They also facilitate the training those who assist in liturgical ministries such as lectors, altar servers, and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion.  If you would like to join in this ministry, please contact Justin Sanders at 409-727-8874.

Art and Environment

Members of this ministry help to visually enhance the worship space at St. Elizabeth’s liturgies through the use of banners, colors, flowers, and other artistic impressions that support the liturgy and seasons of the church year. This ministry is especially important during the Christmas and Easter. For more information contact Dinker Wallace at 409-727-8874.

Sacristans

Members of this ministry are ultimately responsible for the material preparations for all liturgical services here at St. Elizabeth.  The sacristan works closely with all liturgical ministers to ensure smooth coordination of preparations for liturgies.  Sacristans will, at a minimum, meet quarterly with the Director of Music and Liturgy, and Pastor.  Sacristans are asked to arrive at least 45 minutes before their assigned mass.  Trainings are held throughout the year.  Please call the Parish Office if you would like to become a part of this ministry at 409-727-8874.

Masters of Ceremony

Members of this ministry are more experienced alter servers/leaders, and help direct the liturgical action.  His/Her role is to assure that the liturgical rites proceed as planned, with everybody in place and doing their part.  Here at St. Elizabeth, the M.C. also acts as the Crucifer (Cross bearer) in the opening and closing procession, as well as during the procession of the gifts.  Masters of Ceremony are asked to arrive at least 30 minutes before their assigned mass.  Trainings are held throughout the year.  If you want to be involved in this ministry, please contact the Parish Office at 409-727-8874.

Altar Servers/Thurifers

Members of this ministry assist the priest during Mass by performing specific duties.   Altar servers are scheduled at each of the three weekend Masses, as well as various special liturgies throughout the church year,  and are children and teens (grades 4-12), college students, and adults who have received First Eucharist.  Members of this ministry are asked to arrive 30 minutes prior to their assigned Mass.  Trainings are held throughout the year.  Please contact the Parish Office if you would like to join this ministry at 409-727-8874.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

Members of this ministry assist the priest in distributing Holy Communion at 4:30 p.m., 8:00 a.m., and 10:30 a.m., and other special liturgies throughout the church year.  To serve in this ministry one must be Confirmed, an active member of the parish community, and must be in full communion with the Catholic Church.  Trainings are held throughout the year.  If you would like to share the Eucharist with our Parish family, please contact the Parish Office at 409-727-8874.

Lectors

Members of this ministry proclaim the Word of God during Mass and other special liturgies throughout the year.  Lectors must have strong speaking skills, a commitment to practice their readings beforehand, must be comfortable speaking in front of a large assembly, and have a love for God’s Holy Word.  Periodic meetings are held for training and updates.  If you are a willing to share your speaking talents, please contact the Parish Office at 409-727-8874.

Ministers of Hospitality

Members of this ministry serve as at all weekend Masses and assist with greeting and welcoming, facilitating seating, help with the collection, and distribute bulletins. They also serve by assisting the Sacristans before and after Mass if needed. Members of this ministry are asked to be at Mass at least 30 minutes prior to welcoming and greeting members as they arrive.  Is God calling you to welcome his family as they enter His house?  If you would like to join this ministry, please contact the Parish Office at 409-727-8874.

Home-bound Ministry

Members of this ministry bring Holy Communion, visit, pray with, and bring the love of Christ to the sick and home-bound members of our parish. To serve in this ministry one must be a Confirmed and active member of the parish community and must be in full communion with the Catholic Church.  With the Covid-19 Virus, we are being extra careful with our  homebound people.  If you would like to share the Body of Christ with those that cannot be at Church, please call the Parish Office at 409-727-8874.
