R.C.I.A. | Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
This is the process by which adults enter into the Catholic Church. RCIA Inquiry sessions are at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays in Hebert Hall. If you are considering becoming Catholic, these classes will help answer some basic questions about Christianity and will introduce you to the Catholic faith traditions. Those in the RCIA process will experience several Rites to celebrate the stages of their spiritual growth.
The Rite of Acceptance marks the time in which the Inquirer enters into the stage of learning called the Catechumenate. A Sponsor will journey with the Catechumen as they continue to learn more specifically about the teachings of our Catholic faith and traditions. During this stage, there are various public prayers and blessings marking stages of growth within this period. If the person is ready to take the next step on their faith journey, this decision is celebrated with the Rite of Election which is presided over by the Bishop in the Diocese on the First Sunday of Lent. Our Rite of Election is held at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica with those seeking Initiation from all over the diocese.
If you are an adult Catholic who would like to come home to the Church, or if you would like to find out information about becoming a full member of the Catholic faith through the reception of the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist, and Confirmation, please call the Parish Office or contact Dinker Wallace.
